Developing a Strategy
Demographic changes are underway in companies and are irreversible in the medium term. The number of workers suffering from chronic illnesses and disabilities will increase over the next ten years and onwards due to their age.
Employers need to be flexible towards these employees. Physical ability declines with age yet is counter-balanced by industry knowledge and social skills.
In order to maintain growth, solutions have to be developed so that these employees can stay on until normal retirement age, allowing the company to benefit from their experience.
HR Managers must take these factors into account in their handling of this ageing workforce.
Their goal must be to keep these staff members on and develop parallel strategies to increase and enhance their potential as they age.
